FUN MEMORY I WILL NEVER FORGET, HALLOWEEN 1995: I was working as a shot girl in a nightclub in Springfield “armpit of the Bible Belt” Missouri, wearing a Joy Division t-shirt identical to the above as well as a red satin cherryblossom-patterned miniskirt and platform Mia boots I wish I still had. Some frat/evangelical dude came up to me like, “What are you supposed to be, a gothic schoolgirl?” I was like, “Myself, asshole” and refused to sell him a shot. THAT’S ALL I GOT.
today i am sixty-three days in recovery, i have not made it this far in four years, i am so proud of myself. it has been incredibly difficult but i have the greatest support system in the entire world and i am eternally grateful. keep your spirits up, dear ones.
